This week I finished the lineart for the Gallery and all its versions. Thankfully I was able to save time by copying and pasting certain aspects. Beyond that, I decided to work in some cracks in the scene to show the age of the building. The different versions included the intial view when the player walks into the building, the close ups to each curtain and then every iteration of open and close curtains for each scene. The door at the end, I am quite sure is going to lead to the next act/ set of paintings.
I improved it from the last attempt of the gallery by adding more small details and architecture to the room such as the arches and support beams, the banner in the back and torches that actually look like a torches. I also added the eye motif to the arches and cracks. I really feel proud of this piece so far all that is left to add is the paintings, but I need to wait on Amy for that as Amy is handling the first painting; the banquet scene.
I also started work on the Animation for the curtains opening. I am sketching it so it would work for each variation of curtain (so the one closest to the player, middle one and furthest from the player) It will take some time but hopefully I will have the line art done for next week. Not to mention if I use onion skinning to its full potential and copy and paste what I can from frame to frame it shouldnt take forever.
When you are an artist, ctrl + c, ctrl + v and especially ctrl + z are life savers and time savers. I also highly recommend backing up your art and saving fequently to prevent unfortunate event occuring. I save and organise different stages of my pieces on the google drive, making sure to organise everything the best I can to make things easier for the coders when they need to find a particular asset.
