This weekend, I went to Amy's to work on the art and get things sorted with how we would get this sorted and collaborate. For example we decided that the the base canvas size would be 480 x 270 px, it was small enough to be able to see the pixels but large enough to have sufficient detail for the backdrops.
I worked on the gallery scene, and the close up before the player unveils the paintings. I liked having the room at an angle like the player is standing at the doorway but also being have to see and click on all three paintings (the fabric covers them). I also liked the inclusion of torches that light up the room as you unlock each painting. The warm colours worked together but mostly I consider red a very royal colour fitting for a palace.
Unfortunately, after discussing with my group I realized that these assets are too simple and needs more detail. Especially after witnessing how amazingly detailed Amy's art work is, I realized I need to up my game to keep the game visually consistent.
Other things I worked on are some possible maid designs.
In the end, I believe we decided that Amy would do the Banquet scene, and we would divide and conquer the scenes as evenly as possible but also prevent issues with sharing artwork as much as possible.Speaking of sharing art, we created a google drive to keep things easy and streamlined.
I plan to work on the gallery again from scratch to increase the detail, and make it more visually interesting. While keeping all the necessary parts so it works as a game.
