3. Pixel Art, GIFs and Bricks

We continue to narrow down, the story and mechanics. The group decided to try and use unreal engine to make the game.
Currently, I believe this is the storyline we are looking at (Taken from meeting minutes);

The main character (MC) was a scribe who assisted a coup in the kingdom. They worked under the king’s sister, who was denied the throne due to misogyny. To be recognized as the true queen, she needed two crowns.--the reason why she wanted the prince was because only a royal can crown another royal.
The prince’s whereabouts are unknown, but only the MC knows the truth. Because of this, the narrator pretends to help the MC, but in reality, only reveals selective information to control what the MC learns.
The queen’s right-hand person is actively searching for the prince and is growing suspicious of the MC. If the MC gets too close to the truth, they become a target.
In reality, the MC is a rebel who helped kidnap the prince to save him. The narrator wants to extract information from the MC without allowing them to fully understand the truth.

Meanwhile, myself and Amy continue to figure out more art style details.

As you can see, I was trying to draw up the bedroom the player wakes up in. I realized that for the pixel style to work the canvas has to be tiny compared to what im used to. That is another detail me and Amy have to work out, what size will our artwork be, since the typical screen size won't work for this style.

Here I practised a bit more with styles, and shading techniques. I also realized, I will probably be drawing more bricks than anything else considering our player will spend most of his time in an old palace.

I also practised animating in Clip Studio Paint and created this gif. Thankfully it was not an impossible feat all I had to do was create a new animtion file and open the timeline window in the app so I could see all the frames and layers in order.

I also worked on this website to host my dev diaries, I decided to go with hostgater as it seemed reliable enough and I got to customise everything. In the end, I used html, css and javascript to create this website, it isn't perfect but I look forward to update this website and improve it overtime. Overall I feel this week has been productive especially with me creating this website to the best of my ability.
