12. Final Words

I managed to complete all my work on monday. I simplified the office scene to show a peak behind the door so its easier and more timely to draw after discussing the state of affairs with Amy. I drew the shelves close up for the book sorting minigame, in the end I decided to do one on height and the other with rainbow order. This meant I had to have every book in its own layer to export for kiki to implement. Since the player are supposed to drag and drop each book into place.
I also put together the silouette designs and character designs, I wanted the characters to have some variations to give some life to them as not many things move in the game. Choosing colours for the characters took a couple tries as I wanted them to play well with the strong colourful enviroment they are in. In the end I eyedropped (picking the exact rgb colour from a selected pixel) colours from the backdrop and adjusted them so that the characters match their enviroment without melting completely into it.
Amy also volunteered to colour in the hands for the introduction scene to take it off my plate, which I am incredibly grateful for. I also put together the pitch document properly and made it pretty using google slides and exporting it as a pdf as it was the task everyone wanted to procrastinate on, and all things considered I think I made it look aesthetically pleasing. Then I redid the game development document so that it was more easily legible after no one volunteering for the job, this was a little frustrating as it was cutting it close time wise but I was able to pull through and get it done on time after using some other Game Development Documents I found online as templates.

This project has been an incredible experience, I got to work these amazing girls, and produce art I'm proud of. I'm lucky that it was very smooth sailing on my end, thanks to working well with Amy and being able to manage my time effectively and cutting down on work when it was necessary. Looking back on what I have worked on, all the different pieces from the bedroom scenes, gallery scenes and library scenes. I can tell my art has improved and I think I have drawn more backgrounds than ever in my life before this project. While background art was not my strong suit, I think I managed well and completed art to a good standard.
If there was anything I would do differently, I think I would crop everything so it wouldn't be a pain for the coders to deal with, as I was told today it was due to the way layering works in Unity. I would also be more persistant in asking the coders on details and force them to communicate more with me so I knew more information and sooner so our time isn't wasted (such as scrapping the curtain animation).
Links to everything are in the blog section. In the Game Development Document there is a link to the google drive where you can see all the art I didn't put onto this website some of it is mine and some Amy's. I hope you enjoyed going on this jouney with me, I hope to continue this project in the summer with some of the girls and actually get into the coding side of things but until then I wish you all the best!
